Endurance Idahor Dies In Sudan

Nigerian striker Endurance Idahor died Saturday night while in action for his Sudanese club El Merriekh from a cardiac arrest, according to officials of the National Hospital of Omdurman, who performed an autopsy on the player.

MTNFootball.com gathered that representatives of the Nigeria embassy in Sudan, El Merriekh officials and doctor as well representatives of the police attended the autopsy Sunday morning after permission was granted by the player's wife.
The former Dolphins ace striker, 25, was rushed to hospital when 15 minutes into a Sudanese league game versus Al Amal Saturday night he slumped inside the box of the opposing team.

MTNFootball.com has also learnt that the body of late El Merriekh striker will be flown into his hometown of Benin, southern Nigeria, Monday on a private plane accompanied by top officials and players led by club president, Jamal Al Wali.

An official of El Merriekh, Nasir Mohammed, told MTNFootball.com that a delegation made up of club officials, officials of the Sudan FA as well Idahor's teammates and Nigerian players plying their trade in Sudan will accompany the body to Benin.
Mohammed told MTNFootball.com that Idahor's Nigerian teammates, Kelechi Osunwa and Stephen Nworgu, are “devastated by this tragedy”.

Osunwa replaced Idahor when he was rushed to hospital while Nworgu was on the bench.
It was gathered that the chartered flight will set El Merriekh back by between $70,000 and $100,000. The plane will come with as many as 100 passengers.

Idahor's wife and children a five-month-old son and daughter, who is 2 have already arrived Sudan from their base in Dubai. They are also expected to be on the flight to Benin.
