Udonwa Coming To Industrialized Akwa Ibom- Says Akpabio Should Stop Blaming Opposition For Insecurity In The State

As preparation for 2011 gubernatorial election is in top gear, a seasoned first class marine engineer of Akwa Ibom state origin, a front line governorship aspirant in the state for 2011, Engr. Iniekong Udonwa said his aspiration to govern the state from 2011 is born out of his zeal to change Akwa Ibom from the present civil service economy to industrial driven state.

The governor to be who is enjoying support from his home state Akwa Ibom made this known to journalists at Margaret Ekpo international Airport Calabar, Cross River State, recently. Engr. Udonwa who complained bitterly on the high level of unemployment in the state disclosed that he has concluded plans to initiate projects that will create employment opportunities. Such as industrial innovation, port development, refinery among others, when he assume office of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2011.

Engr. Udonwa expressed strong belief that Akwa Ibom State would realize its immense potential if he is given an opportunity to lead. He added that his agenda for rapid improvement in critical areas will be tackled with greater vigour and total dedication. On the ailing industries in the state, the gubernatorial aspirant said it was not out of his plan to reactivate them and build cottage industries across the state; by so doing will boast employment. He promised to complete all uncompleted projects by past administrators.

Concerning insecurity in the state in area of kidnapping which is the order of the day and other social vices, the governorship hopeful said the security challenges in the state is not healthy for development, and charged the government to live up to its responsibilities by protecting lives and properties of her citizenry instead of accusing the opposition of masterminding criminal activities in the state.

He stressed that accusing opposition in the state of sponsoring kidnapping will in no direction help in taming crime in the state. He admonished the government to redefine the functions of security operatives in the state to give them direction. Engr. Udonwa called on the youths to shun violence, but to embrace peace, especially during 2011 elections in order to move the state forward.

He continued that for the 2011 to succeed, youths should eschew violence even if they are sent by persons in the position of authority in order to have free and fair election with legitimate leaders emerging from the elections.

According to him, youths as leaders of tomorrow must be well equipped to face the challenges of nation building, thereby playing crucial role in the affair of the nation. The Etinan born politician called on the people of Akwa Ibom State to support his aspiration for Akwa Ibom to have a face lift. He advised all and sundry not to bring ethnic sentiment to the fore so that Akwa Ibom can be developed.
