EFCC'S FARIDA WAZIRI RAISING UNNECESSARY ALARM

Recently, Mrs. Farida Waziri shouted it loud that 'corrupt' politicians are plotting for her removal before the 2011 elections. I beg to disagree. She may be her own albatross.

Few months into her position; Farida Waziri trying to impress the public that she would work to stamp out corruption from Nigeria. She expressed her disgust noticing for an example, that a first term governor from a southern State was able to buy N1billion property in Abuja within few months in office.

For umpteenth time, writers asked her to name the governor; up till today she has refused to do so.
Secondly, when in 2008 the US embassy drew the attention of the EFCC to an outrageous N1.5billion in a personal bank account statement (that was submitted for purpose of Visa issue) of a Personal Assistant and blood brother to a Governor of one of the south-south States.

To Waziri's EFCC; that was regarded as normal, therefore she found it waste of time investigating such issue.
In 2009, Mrs. Waziri insinuated that most politicians are corrupt to a point of madness and as a result would recommend psychiatric checks for anyone seeking any elective or appointive positions. She also pretended sending a Bill to the Senate, seeking amendment to the Immunity Clause in our country's Constitution; she saw the Clause as an impediment to her job but up till date she has not pursued it. She also mentioned that there are some drug users and pushers as Nigerian governors. She is still waiting for a petitioner before she could investigate the US$3.1m Bank PHB saga.

It boils down that Waziri EFCC's only barks and do not bite. This is why I have to bring in lyrical song of the Lady of Songs Christy Essien which says: “What you say doesn't matter but the way you say it; what you do does not matter but how you do it; and what you promise does not matter but how to fulfil it”. This should be food-for-thought for Mrs. Waziri's EFCC.
