Youths Advised To Embrace Education

Youths have been advised to take advantage of the free and compulsory education of the state government to embrace education.
The advised was handed down by the Supervisor for Education, Youth and Sports in Abak local government area, Mr. Godwin Norbert Okon during a thanksgiving and birthday party of the President of National Council of Annang Youths, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen.
Mr. Godwin Okon noted that the only way the youths could become useful and responsible citizens in future is to embrace education.
While congratulating Dr. Emmanuel Udosen on his birthday and successful completion of his PH.D programme, Mr. Godwin Okon called on the youths to emulate Dr. Udosen, pointing out that his zeal, courage and determination has made him to become what he is today.
Also speaking, the Director of Media and Publicity of National Council of Annang Youths, Comrade Ubong Umana expressed happiness with Dr. Emmanuel Udosen for his successfully completion of his PH.D programme and urged the youths to emulate his qualities.
Earlier, the president National Council of Annang Youths, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen thanked God for his successful completion of his PH.D programme and for adding one more year to his life.
Dr. Udosen also thanked his visitors for finding time to come and rejoice with him.
He expressed happiness that Chief Godswill Akpabio has made the people of Akwa Ibom State proud through his numerous life touching programmes.
The National Council of Annang Youths President noted that the free and compulsory education of the state government will afford the people of the state the opportunity to attain greater height in future, stressing that Akwa Ibom indigenes would in the nearest future compete favourably with their western counterparts.
The youth Leader re-stated the resolve of his organization to continue to drum support for Chief Godswill Akpabio's second term aspiration.
According to him, the people of Annang have resolved for the first time in their history to support and present Chief Godswill Akpabio as the sole candidate for the 2011 governorship election and solicited the support of youths and elders of other ethnic groups in the state.
He described the achievements of Governor Akpabio so far as unprecedented in the 22 year history of the state.
The occasion was attended by cream of personalities across the state who all danced and rejoiced with the celebrant.

Groups Root For IBB


The 2011 presidential aspiration of Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd) has received the nod of groups and individuals in Akwa Ibom State. Global Concord gathered at the weekend that letters of solidarity from groups in the state have since been dispatched to the Army General assuring him of the support of Akwa Ibom People to his aspiration.
One of such letters by a group calling itself Akwa Ibom People's Front, dated February 26; 2010 stated that having been instrumental to the creation of Akwa Ibom State on Sept 29 1987, he (IBB) can be rest assured of the support of the people of the state to actualize his aspiration as the interest of the state in his regime will be taken care of. The letter which was signed by the group's president, Obong Asuquo Etuk, Vice President Mr. Savior Etekpa and Secretary Comrade Nsikak Thompson expressed confidence on the ability of the ex-president to improve on the living standard of the people of Nigeria who have long yearned for a man who can lead the country purposefully.
While expressing sadness over the demise of the erstwhile first lady and wife of the presidential hopeful, the group whose aim among other things is “to give a platform for political expression for the people of Akwa Ibom State”, urged all to rally support for the former president.
In a related development, a national network has been formed and inaugurated to co-ordinate political activities for the presidential aspiration of Gen Ibrahim Babangida. Known as Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Movement, IBB Movement, the group which has its chapters across the 36 states of the Federation including FCT is to garner grassroots supports to the presidential hopeful. In Akwa Ibom State the group which is co-coordinated by Mr. Ime Ekpenyong has started massive mobilization and sensitization of people to embrace the developmental philosophy of General Ibrahim Babangida.
In a chat with Global Concord at the weekend, Mr. Ekpenyong told the press that letters of introduction and invitation for participation and support have been dispatched to political office holders in the state to join the trend which according to him is driving towards overhauling the country's political scene to enhance the citizens participation in governance to reap massively there from.
Mr. Ime Ekpenyong a politician and business mogul said the group in Akwa Ibom will soon begin formation of wards and chapters executives “to ensure that the message and dream of making IBB the next president is rooted at the grassroots”. Concerning his reason for such massive mobilization, he said; “the next coming election is going to be free and fair; it is only one who is accepted and loved by the people that will carry the day. IBB has lofty programmes to unfold to Nigerians and only needs the support of the masses and here in Akwa Ibom, the movement has begun massive sensitization to ensure that the people embraced him and his programmes. We are sure of his success here because so far frontline politicians have started to cue in and more will soon join” he said.
