RASVON To Train Safety Workers

Rescue and Safety Volunteers of Nigeria International (RASVON), a non-governmental, non- religious, and non-political organization, aimed at safe-guarding lives and rescuing accident victims in Nigeria, is set to organize a five day training workshop and seminar for all rescue/safety volunteer workers in the state. The meeting is to have as its theme: “Preparing Rescue Officers for Responsible and Responsive Leadership for Sustainable Millennium Developments.”
Speaking with Global Concord in his 51 Nepa Line Office, the National Coordination of RASVON, Pastor Josiah Adams said the programme which is slated to take place at the Ikono Ibom Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Ayan Ikono, Uyo Local Government Area from Wednesday 7th Sunday 12th April, 2010, is a mandatory course for all Rescue Volunteer workers in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at Large.
According to a release signed by the National Coordinator, Pastor Josiah Adams, and made available to Global Concord, the aims of the programme include among other things: “ to create a conducive environment and atmosphere that will enhance the development of positive values, courage, trust and integrity which are the hallmarks of acceptable citizenship and leadership service; to encourage participants to co-operate with others to give service to and accept responsibility for others”.
The courses during the workshop, according to the release include: basic training, physical Development, development of mental capabilities, adventure, social services, as well as games.
The release also states that the resource persons for the proposed 5- day training are drawn from the Federal Ministry of Interior, Citizenship/Leadership Training Centre, Abuja, among others.
