Ibesikpo Asutan Council Boss Commended

The Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan, Hon, (Barr) Christopher Essien has been commended for delivering on his promises of giving purposeful leadership to the people of the Area.

The commendation came last week from a community leader and political elder statesman in the Local Government Area, Obong Donatus Noah.

Obong Noah who spoke in an interview with Global Concord at his Ikot Akpa Eyoho residence said the chairman's performance in office has met the expectation of the people of the Local Government and maintained that the Lawyer cum politician was among the finest political products the area has produced since its inception.

He said: “He is one of the finest political products that we have in Ibesikpo Asutan and in Asutan in particular. I am very proud of him… He has tried within the lean resources which have been allotted to Ibesikpo Asutan.

He has done what others did not do before him. The real essence of local government administration has been achieved in his case”.
Continuing, Obong Donatus Noah who is former Vice Chairman of Ekpe Atai said: “In this my own village, he has built a market and in some other places provided sustainable source of portable water, some he gave oil processing mills, he is performing very well.”

The speaker who is the Iberedem Ekpe of Asutan Ekpe however regretted that enough funds were not released to councils across the country to enable them meet the needs of the electorates at the third tier of government. Global Concord while feeling the pulse of the people of the local government gathered that the chairman has endeared himself to many people in the area through many development projects and empowerment programmes of his administration.

The paper equally gathered that the chairman has embarked on series of projects which will impact positively on the local dwellers when completed. One of such projects, the paper gathered is the un-going construction of a bridge at Ikot Atang Uma and Ikot Oku Akpan to connect Asutan IV and V who have long been disconnected following the collapsed bridge many years ago.

Global Concord, has gone on search to ascertain whether rhetoric from the council meet deeds on ground and hopes to bring you up to-date information about the administration in an exposé next edition.
