EVOLVING A NEW DEMOCRATIC VALUE FOR OUR STATE

The critical issues is accountability and transparency, ensuring the compatibility and adaptability of reform process to the constitution and political landscape and electoral reform making the electoral system in synergy with citizens, democratic aspirations, further participation in the electoral process on any politician whose election is voided by election petitions tribunal on grounds of electoral malpractices, if the ban, which could be permanent or temporary was considered among punishments for serious electoral offences, it would go along way in restoring confidence in the state's democracy.

A perfect electoral law would lead the state nowhere if people could simply disregard the rule and get away with such crimes, despite the necessity of electoral reforms, the political elite who should carry out the reforms are themselves in dire need of reform “who will reform the reformers? Akwa Ibomites should evolve a democracy that gives unlimited opportunity to them to choose and change their leaders. The colloquium was designed for Akwa Ibomites to speak their minds on what the fact was helpful towards a democracy devoid of violence and acrimony bickering, ethnic process to a counterfeited currency in the economic system because election is crucial to the democratic process.

Electoral process should reveal the wishes of the people, when electoral process is flawed anarchy take over. Corruption threatens democracy and rule of law and also facilitates criminal activities.


Fighting corruption and promoting good governance is therefore crucial to developing an environment that facilitates the social, political, and economics development of the people but when the leader is perpetrated political crime and breaking of law and order, how will the citizens be, there is no law that blend ethnic politics agenda campaign, we are in democracy, so ethnic politics should be stopped. Leaders should enhance self-discipline, loyalty, hard work, cheerfulness.
Second term in any political office is not a do or die affair, it is determined by the citizen's as an act of good-governance and as well as democracy. Akwa Ibom people are urging for a redeemer and a saviour of the promise land, our Governor, our choice, the transformer of our state, we are proud of you Sen. J. J. Akpanudoedehe, alias Akwa Ibom NELSON MANDELA, our able Governor come 29th May 2011.
