History has been made in Akwa Ibom for the first time. It was when the masses (electorates) had the opportunity to interact with the executive governor of the state in what was termed Media Chat.
Media Chat is always done by members of the Fourth Realm of the estate called the press but on Monday, 3rd of May 2010 at AKBC TV Channel 45, Uyo in the famous program, Politics Today the presenter, Amb. Samuel Akpan gave the masses the opportunity to discuss and ask his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio questions on topical issues and matters affecting the state.
The governor used the opportunity to educate and enlighten the masses on government programs and policies.
Politics Today, a program on AKBC and NTA making the waves started in 2006. The program is focused on political issues and related matters that is affecting the society. It is on record that the presenter of the program Amb. Samuel Akpan before Politics Today had worked with the likes of Frank Edoho in DBN, Mikan Attah in Channels TV before coming home to start the program.
Politics Today has added colour to the media industry in Akwa Ibom State. Some members of the public who reacted after the program commended the presenter for the concept, though not happy with the selected crowd called on government functionaries to often create such an opportunity with an enlarged crowd for government to feel the pulse of the masses.
