A frontline politician and former Commissioner for Health and Works in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Udoma Bob Ekarika said nobody can be compared to Governor Akpabio in the area of deceit. Dr. Udoma said this while interacting with our reporter in Uyo.
Reacting to a picture story in some tabloids (not Global Concord) where he is seen presenting an award to Chief Akpabio, Dr. Ekarika said the action seen in the photograph should not be misconstrued that he gave a personal award to Gov. Akpabio, rather he was presenting an award on behalf of the University of Calabar Alumni Association when he accompanied his colleagues in the association to pay him (Akpabio) a visit, adding that he has no organization that could warrant his given Governor Akpabio an award of excellence, that he was only mandated by Unical Alumni to do so.
His words: “I am Dr. Udoma Ekarika and not an association or institution. Therefore, the issue of saying: “Dr. Udoma Ekarika presenting an Award of Excellence in Good Governance to Gov. Godswill Akpabio recently in government House” is a clear indication that Akpabio has bought over many media houses such that whatever he ask them to do, they will do it. He is the one who told Sensor and Sun Newspapers to publish that photograph and describe it the way you have seen. An individual, except traditional rulers, cannot give an award; award is only given by institutions. Of course, everybody within and outside Akwa Ibom knows that Godswill Akpabio is a master of lies, deceit and cheat, and likes buying awards...But all these lies will not help Akpabio and his government. That was one of the photographs we took the day Akpabio poisoned me”.
On the rumour that the governor was planning to play video clips which shows how that Dr. Udoma used to eat in his (Akpabio) house, just to discredit him (Udoma); the Ubok Udom Nsit Ubium said the governor can go ahead and do it because playing those tapes will even help him.
According to him: “I am even praying that Akpabio should go ahead and do that. Apart from the fact that it will expose his level of childishness, it will also let the public know that I was very close to Akpabio and wished him well until he became diabolic and mean, then I decided to part ways with him. Look all those things will not help Akpabio”.
The former governorship aspirant used the opportunity to call on the good people of Akwa Ibom State to discountenance such deceptive information and get prepared to vote Akpabio out in the forthcoming election since according to him, “the state can never grow with a tyrant at the helm of its affairs.”
