Protocol:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press,
The attention of The Senator John James Akpanudoedehe Campaign Organization, Positive Change 2011, has been drawn to a news report in the Daily Sun Newspaper of Monday 19th April, 2010 and the Sensor Newspaper of the same date which states, among other things, that the rationale behind Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah's public endorsement of Senator John James Akpanudoedehe on Saturday, 17th April, was to lunch himself back to relevance in the State politics and to ensure that his son in-law, Dr. Udoma Ekarika becomes the Deputy Governor come 2011.
The above media report, apart from being the handy work of the incumbent governor and his cohorts who are hell bent on insulting Obong Attah, is nothing but blatant falsehood of the highest order which must be discarded by the good people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
The Campaign Organization wishes to inform the general public that the public endorsement of Distinguished Senator John Udoedehe by the immediate past Governor was informed by the need to change the wicked, non-focused, ineffective, inept and cult-invaded government of Barr. Godswill Akpabio in the State. Suffice to say that Obong Attah was moved by the cry of masses to do what he was doing. This is because an average Akwa Ibom person is yearning for a change positive change; the people want the State to return to what it used to be during Obong Attah's regime, an era of peace, political inclusiveness, party unity among others that Godswill Akpabio's administration has not provided.
The people want to have food on their tables, they want to participate in major contract execution to end this capital flight, the youths want to be gainfully employed and this can be guaranteed by revamping our ailing industries and building of new ones, and the people want to see their resources effectively utilized for the benefit of all citizens irrespective of ethnic origination, hence, the action of Obong Attah which was made and is still greeted with loud ovation and praises in the state.
The Campaign Organization would not have bothered to mention the ranting of Barr. Ita Enang, but for the mere fact that he has made public his mediocrity and that of his colleagues of Akwa Ibom descent in the National Assembly to have endorsed Akpabio for a second term, which according to him, gives no chance for another person to aspire for the position. Surely he sounds like a tyrant, dictator and not a law maker. He is so soon to forget or was he not taught that during democracy, aspirants cannot be barred from contesting; as it was the case during Obong Attah's second term bid where ten people contested against him? Hon. Ita Enang is ranting like a parrot. He knows very little about legislation, democracy and Akwa Ibom Politics. He should be reminded that legislators make laws and not financially-induced endorsement. When himself and other mean minds representing Akwa Ibom State sat back at the National Assembly to endorse Governor Akpabio instead of passing a vote-of-no-confidence on him in view of innocent blood shed in Akwa Ibom State not unconnected to cultic invasion of government house, Uyo and desperate search for a second term, Ita Enang and his so-called “Akwa Ibom Caucus in the National Assembly” told Akwa Ibom people that they were not interested in the plights of the citizenry.
Can't Ita Enang, a joker which we see him to be, win another term in the National Assembly if he does not become a tingling cymbal for the infamous ill-fated continuity of this unacceptable government? When did National Assembly members become campaign boys of a failed governor who is desperate to return to power at all cost in 2011? Are they no longer honourable men? Is Ita Enang who delights in venting his tirade on TV screen worthy to be a house boy to Obong Victor Attah who took this State to national limelight and regrettably he is trying to insult?
Ita Enang should relocate from the National Assembly to somewhere else because the invective he is vomiting lacks the diplomacy expected of an honourable member. He should stop insulting Obong Attah and Senator John James Akpanudoedehe forthwith.
Equally, the man, Hon. Bassey Etienam should not attempt to bounce back to public reckoning after many years of redundancy by refusing to accept what majority of Akwa Ibom people witnessed when Obong Attah gave his nod to Senator Udoedehe's guber ambition in 2011.
Those whose presence closed major streets of Uyo on Saturday when the event took place were not paid crowd, they were not “mobilized” to do what they did as our sitting governor would do.
Those claiming to represent us should feel the pulse of the people before making public utterances so as not to irk majority of Akwa Ibom people.
Signed:
Rt. Hon. (Obong) Thomas O. Akpan
Chairman, Publicity/Strategic Committee
For Positive Change 2011.
