Attah Endorses Udoedehe

The gubernatorial aspiration of Senator John James Akpanudoedehe in 2011 received a boast last Saturday when Ex-Gov. Victor Attah gave his nod to the Senator.
In a well attended rally held at St. Patrick School, Uyo, at the instance of Forum of Uyo Patriots, Obong Victor Attah said his action to endorse Senator John Udoedehe was in view of his (Udoedehe) ability and courage to speak against poor governance in the state when no one else lack the courage to do so.

Obong Attah said there was a great need for change to be effected in the State but regretted that those who share same feelings with Senator Udoedehe lack the courage to express it for electorates in the State to be guided.

He said in part: “There is a young man who has refused to sit back in his comfort zone and murmur and crumble against the things that are going on, but has decided that he will come out with determination to change the things that are going wrong in the State.

Personally, I identify with such courage and I encourage him and I support it. One thing I will say to you is that everybody knows that evil only prevail when good men refuse to do something about it … that is courage, that is determination and we need such courage and determination to carry out our conviction to be successful in politics and in governance and that is why I admire the courage of the young man called Senator John Udoedehe.

There are many people who share his opinion but they are frightened and scared to express it. But he has come out to us to say: 'I believe in change and I'm determined to be the instrument of that change', we must encourage that”, He advised.

Obong Attah who was escorted to the event amidst loud ovation by his supporters and admirers stressed the need for people in the State to support the gubernatorial aspiration of the former Uyo council Chairman, Senator and Minister of FCT, since he has good intention towards the State and promotion of democratic practices in the country.

To the Eduek Ekpe of Asutan Ekpe, the expansion of the State's political space to accommodate political views and opinion was preferred against any manipulation to keep other contestants who have better programmes for the State away from the race as postulated by the present administration. While calling for greater participation in the struggle to enthrone Senator Edehe as the next governor in 2011, Obong Attah told the mammoth crowd that his choice of Senator Edehe was devoid of any prejudice against other aspirants who feel they can deliver the State from poverty claws, insecurity, unemployment, brain drain and other vices threatening citizens of the state .

In his acceptance speech, Senator John Udoedehe expressed happiness for the general acceptance given to his gubernatorial aspiration by the people of the state and reiterated his avowed determination to deliver dividend of good governance to the people of the state.

Meanwhile, Positive Change 2011 has reacted to media reports that the endorsement was an attempt by Obong Attah to launch himself back to relevance in the state. In a statement signed by Obong T O Akpan, the group described the allegation as blatant lies intended to cast slur on the well attended and accepted event. The group warned those who take delight in condemning patriotic acts in the state to desist from doing so forthwith.
