Samuel Effanga Faulted Over Statement

Commissioner Samuel Effanga has been faulted by a Chieftain of PDP in Uyo over his recent media statement sequel to the endorsement of Senator John James Akpanudoedehe by Obong Victor Attah in his guber aspiration in 2011.

Hon. Effanga on Saturday was quoted by some state media as saying that Uyo Ward 6 will not vote for any candidate in the fourth coming governorship election except Gov. Godswill Akpabio. The media chat which is alleged to have been the decision of PDP executive in the ward has irked some elders in the ward since according to them, Hon Effanga does not have the ears of his people.

Speaking with our reporter in Uyo, Obong (Barr.) C. J. George, said that Uyo in general and ward 6 in particular has not endorsed and will never support the incumbent governor, Chief Akpabio, saying that Sameul Effanga is not an elder of PDP to make such general statement on behalf of Uyo people and the Ward in particular. Obong George while alleging that Hon. Effanga does not have confidence in Akpabio's government warned against confusing the public on their decision to support Senator Udoedehe in the forth coming election.

He said: “Samuel Effanga is not an elder of PDP. Even if there was any PDP elders meeting, Effanga wouldn't have been in attendance because he is not an elder of PDP, and not even an elder. We in Uyo Ward 6 are very much aware of what Samuel Effanga and his ranting group are saying; they are only saying what they are saying with their mouth and not with their heart.

Senator John Akpanudoedehe is the only candidate we know. Of course, Samuel Effanga is only trying to save his position in government, but that does not mean he should tell lies, and perhaps try to see if he can be empowered by the governor.

Just like Akwa Ibom people spoke on Saturday, Ward 6, Uyo and Akwa Ibom will speak in the Election Day. I sympathize with His Excellency, the governor if he would believe or depend on what people like Effanga are saying because all of them are out to deceive him”.

The elder used the opportunity to thank the immediate past governor, Obong Victor Attah for showing the Ibibios and Akwa Ibom people a direction by publicly endorsing the gubernatorial aspiration of Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.

He therefore called on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State to support Senator Udoedehe since he, according to him, is the only aspirant who can lead the State out of the present state of unemployment, poverty and insecurity.
