The people of Ibok Itak, Ikot Udo in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area have called on the Akwa Ibom State Government for the establishment of Secondary School in their Community to enable their wards to enjoy the on going free and compulsory education policy of the present administration.
This is contained in a goodwill message jointly endorsed by the village head of the area, Chief Samuel Umoinyang and Mr. Donald Udokang, Youth representative, Pastor Benjamin Umo, Vice Chairman, and Pastor Edet Usuah, Secretary, Village Council on behalf of the Community.
In the message, the people described the renovation of their primary school as practical demonstration of love the government has for the Community to rid the area of illiterate.
The people particularly lauded Governor Akpabio for giving rapid development of basic infrastructural facilities in Akwa Ibom a big boost in his administration and pledged their readiness to support his administration and the programme maximally towards its realization.
They lamented a situation where children in the community trek over 5 kilometers to obtain secondary school education outside their locality describing it as tedious and worrisome. They however called on the Authorities concerned to come to their aid by sitting a secondary school a secondary school in the community.
They also listed other pressing problems in their community to include provision of portable waster, lack of electricity, non functional road from Ikono to Ikot Ekpene. They lamenting that for over 10 years now, there was no motorable road in the community and sought for the construction of roads that would boost the socio economic activities of the community
Other request of the community to the state governor, Governor Godswill Akpabio includes appointment of indigenes of the area into key position in government and general empowerment of its citizenry.
