THE IMPORT OF KIDNAPPING GOVERNOR'S DRIVER

The kidnap of Police Inspector Joe Frank (alias Decree Four), the chief driver to the governor of Akwa Ibom, meant a lot. Whether it was an arranged kidnap project or was carried out by professional kidnap-for-ransom activists or an act perpetrated by the so-called opposition in Akwa Ibom; there is an import because 'Decree Four' is the closest person, on wheels, to Governor Akpabio.

There exists allegation that cult-like associations erected around the state chief executive are in stiff competition for superiority; in which case it could be in-fight fallout. The professional kidnappers-for-ransom could not be ruled out but the issue is that allegation is rife that the perpetrators are mostly criminals used during the electioneering campaign, who could not be gainfully settled. Also if the act was perpetrated by the so-called opposition; then it is an indicator to the governor that, after all, he could be reached.

It will be recalled that pure water sachets and canned drinks were hauled at the governor at the 'This Day Peace Concert' held in Uyo stadium in December 2009. His attackers were said to be annoyed that the state government bankrolled the unnecessary event to the tune of N140million with tax-payers' fund. The action meted out to the governor was described by critics as the real endorsement that the governor needed.

Generally speaking, politicians especially those of the southern states, created monsters out of those idle hands they used for their electioneering campaigns and a large number of them are now into crimes.
